An interesting experience afternoon tea for 22. Not very organised, but pleasant refreshments once it arrived. The scones were very good.

Communal areas lovely if a little strangely decorated. Staff very nice. Bathroom very dated but functional. Bed like a springboard, no sleep at all!

Ive stayed here at least a dozen times before and it was always more than adequate. Until I booked last night and, upon arrival I was told by the very rude night porter that the room couldnt be had as the reception was closed and he cannot access the computer. Basically told it was our fault then said the same situation had taken place with another guest the week before! I was assured that I wouldnt be charged for the room....then got a call from Laterooms saying they had tried to debit my card for the non existent stay.Receptionist was very good and understanding though and Im waiting to see what happens next.

Absolutely love this hotel it's so quirky . Our room was lovely with an amazing view over the pens holding alpacas llamas emu's and sheep. The food was basic but for what we paid I would not quibble. We came down from Liverpool by train so unfortunately we didn't have our car to explore the area as there quite a few nice pubs around but getting there on foot wasn't an option as there were no proper footpaths. I would definitely stay here again just for the lovely grounds and surroundings. The staff were all lovely and couldn't do enough for you.

All the staff were exceptional, nothing was too much trouble and always with a smile The food in the dining room was excellent. Our room was one of the old rooms however we were privileged to have been given a tour of the refurbished section (not open yet) and it is absolutely magnificent. Well worth a visit.
